Hello! I am...

Sarah Luzia Tischhauser

I believe that I am the Master of my Fate and the Captain of my Soul.

I believe that, as people, we have power beyond our knowledge; and sometimes, in small moments, we realize it.

My yoga journey began when I had read about the scientifically studied benefits of the practice and decided to explore this discipline. Three years later, I met the woman who would teach me how to teach others.

At hOHM Yoga School in July 2019, I completed my 200hr Chakra yoga teachers training with impressive confidence (if I don't say so myself) and dove head first into teaching yoga to travellers and regular locals.

I have loved this role from day one and hope to continue learning and teaching until the very end.

Through this brand, I hope to share my knowledge and experience to help those seeking natural management of anxieties and regrets, those seeking physical health and wellness and those looking to enjoy this journey known as life.

The idea of yoga often intimidates people because, from the outside it looks like you might be expected to stand on your head. And as humans we believe we should be able to do everything that we do perfectly and if we don't achieve this, we should be ashamed. But even the masters started somewhere.

Yoga is not about touching your toes or doing incredibly challenging poses for instagram. It can be about getting a good stretch, building strength, improving your posture, calming your mind, practicing positivity and so much more, you get to choose.

What does yoga do for me?

Besides the strengthening and balancing of the entire body, it helps me access and alter neural pathways in my brain. An example? I can consciously change my language from negativity to positivity until it becomes a new habit. Done through yoga, we say: "I can."

I believe that our habits mould our days and our days build our lives, so we must mould our habits.

"Be true to you"

Being a creative person, I paint, I draw, I write. I always aim to grow in all fields of my life.

I am also an amateur carpenter and furniture designer and make use of recycled and repurposed materials for my creations.

I also practice habits that minimize my contribution to waste production in my daily life because this is the power that I know that I have to make a difference in a wasteful societal structure.

I grow my own vegetables, I am trying to grow watermelon for the first time (update: great success and what a pleasure) and I get mountains of joy when I see a lady bug or a bee enjoying the life thriving in my garden.

I hope to grow my community of friends and share all the knowledge and experience that I have gained, and hopefully also receive knowledge and experiences that you might have to share with me.

HOhm Yoga Studio

This is where I did my yoga teachers training and also where I taught yoga from the day I qualified in Chakra Yoga.

There isn't another place I could have hand picked that could have provided me the education and opportunity that Simmi Holmes of HOhm Yoga Studio and School gave me.

It was eye-opening, and also soothing to learn the scientific evidence and understanding of how energy and all matter and vibration work and how one can use various tools and techniques to self-heal. It helped me understand so much more about myself and the world and Simmi encouraged truly self-responsible behaviour from us as her students.

I HIGHLY recommend at least one class with her or her students in hOhm studio, it is such a spiritual space and you can feel it when you enter.

Healing Space Magaliesburg

Your body language reveals your internal dialogue

Have you ever been able to tell when somebody isn't telling you the truth, no matter how hard they are trying to hide it?

Have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror and somehow only then realise how you feel?

This universal language can be seen and understood in every language, culture, age and interaction.

Can you tell when someone is deep in thought? And the difference between that and zoning out?

The stress or fear response in our bodies is instinctual, deeply routed in the idea that we may have to 'brace for impact'. You might hunch your shoulders, harden your body, gritting your teeth...

So in a room with many people, and there is a fear of it, notice what happens in your body, in your breath.

If you want to change how you feel: slow your breath

...consciously relax by slowing your response

...take a slow, deep and full breath.

Internalize the words: "I've got this"

It is important to acknowledge the connection between your body language and your own internal dialogue.

Body language is more honest than spoken words. Body language can be more telling than you can be honest with yourself.

For a moment, just think about how your body feels when you feel stress. How do you stand? How do you walk? Can others see the stress on your face?

When you are happy, how does your body feel? How do you stand? How do you walk? Can others see the happiness on your face?

Practicing discipline of the mind is directly related to practicing physical discipline.

Learn to stand as a confident, calm and open person and you will be seen to be confident, calm and open to those that see you.

Practice this stance and you will be: confident, calm, and open.

One of my favourite proverbs has always been:

Inside every one of us is a good wolf and an evil wolf at war. Which Wolf Wins?
